Rewilding Journal Prompts: July
Welcome to the Rewilding Journal Prompts series - monthly journal prompts to encourage reflection and exploration of our inner landscapes.
This month, I’m feeling the pull towards something that many of us, myself very much included, finds quite challenging. Maybe even impossible in some situations.
Letting go.
If you’re interested in “rewilding” from a human standpoint, chances are you’re trying to change something about yourself or your circumstances. Maybe you’re struggling with a chronic a health issue. Maybe you feel you’ve grown out of a career or a relationship. Maybe you’re overwhelmed by the fact that the world is literally on fire. Maybe you’re looking for a way to shift to a more sustainable way of life.
Whatever the reason, I gently offer up that you will likely need to let go of something before you can move forward. This isn’t always true, of course - sometimes we can simply build on what’s already there if it suits are goals.
I’m keeping this broad (and a little vague) as this can apply to SO many different types of situations! Some will be simple, like deciding what clothes to donate to make room for the new dresses you’ve been sewing all summer :) Others will be insanely challenging, and will require a lot of consideration, like choosing to pivot out of an established and profitable career.
Journalling can help!
Whether your goals are healing, personal growth, or simply curiosity, if you are interested in a bit of rewilding inner work and self-exploration, I invite you to try these prompts the next time you need a little nudge.
August Prompts: Letting Go
~ Is there something that you know isn’t serving you anymore? Why?
~ Do you need to let go of it to move forward? Or can you move forward without leaving anything behind?
~ Is not letting go hurting you? What support might you need to move forward safely?
~ Carefully consider what kind of letting go is best for each situation. Can you just redirect your focus while keeping the thing in sight? Or do you need to cut ties, burn your bridges and nail the door shut - clean slate?
~ How do you see your future once you’ve let go of the thing? Positive? Regretful? Free to move forward as you envisioned? Take your time - not everything has to be let go of immediately to see results :)
Write your answers in whatever format you feel most comfortable with - bullet point, longform, doodles, stickers, paint, etc. Speak from the heart. You can keep your answers or burn the evidence; the exercise is simply to nudge you towards some pondering, reframing, reevaluating, and rewilding of your current beliefs for a more sustainable thought ecosystem.
If you found these prompts useful, let me know in the comments! Join me next month for some new prompts to ponder :)
